Just Around the Corner Pet Sitting & Dog Walking is hiring part-time Dog Walkers and Pet Sitters throughout Plymouth, MA and the surrounding communities we serve, including Pinehills, Manomet, Chiltonville, Cedarville, Sagamore Beach, Buzzards Bay, White Horse Beach, Priscilla Beach, Redbrook, and Ponds of Plymouth. This is a W-2 employee position, not independent contractor work, with a locally owned pet care company serving the Plymouth area since 2008. Starting base pay is $16.00 per hour during paid training.

Paid Training That Doesn’t Stop After Week One

What This Position Looks Like

Our dog walkers travel between client homes throughout Plymouth during the weekday midday hours, providing dogs with exercise, enrichment, companionship, and safe, attentive care.
This is an active, independent position that requires reliability, excellent communication, and confidence working with dogs of all sizes, breeds, personalities, and energy levels.
Many of our clients rely on us weekly while they are at work, so consistency and professionalism matter greatly in this role.
Routes are scheduled to keep dog walkers within a 10 to 15 minute driving radius whenever possible.
Candidates are matched to routes based on where they live to minimize travel time and increase efficiency.
Pet sitting hours can start as early as 7 AM and go as late as 9 PM, as well as on weekends. Availability during those times increases a candidate’s ability to work more hours.

Responsibilities

Walk dogs safely in neighborhoods and local communities
Care for pets in clients’ homes
Handle dogs with varying temperaments, sizes, and leash behaviors
Follow detailed care instructions carefully
Provide fresh water, exercise, companionship, and enrichment
Send written visit updates and photos through our pet care app
Communicate with the office and team throughout the day
Maintain professionalism and reliability with every client visit

Qualifications

Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
18 years of age or older
Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments
Smartphone for use with our scheduling and visit-reporting app
Prior pet care experience helpful but not required, we provide training
Ability to pass a background check

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need previous professional pet care experience?

No. Experience is certainly helpful, but it’s not required. We hire people who have a genuine love for animals, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. We provide paid training and ongoing coaching.

Am I an employee or an independent contractor?

All JAC Pet Care Associates are W-2 employees. We believe that’s better for our team, our clients, and the quality of care we provide.

Is training really paid, and does it continue after I'm hired?

Yes. We believe learning is work and we invest in our employees from day one. Training doesn’t stop after your first week. We continually update procedures, provide coaching, and share new information about pet care, safety, and customer service.

How much will I earn?

Starting base pay is $16.00 per hour during paid training. In addition to hourly wages, team members receive mileage reimbursement, client tips, and bonus opportunities. As a result, many of our current Pet Care Associates experience an overall effective hourly value of approximately $18–$22 per hour, depending on their schedule, route, and client base.

Do I work alone?

Most visits are completed independently, but you’ll always have support from our office staff and fellow teammates. We communicate throughout the day and help one another whenever needed.

What areas do you serve?

We serve clients throughout Plymouth, Pinehills, Manomet, Chiltonville, Cedarville, Sagamore Beach, Buzzards Bay, White Horse Beach, Priscilla Beach, Redbrook, and Ponds of Plymouth. Whenever possible, we build routes close to where our team members live to minimize driving time.
